SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR

Swami Nirmalatmananda, 55, is the president and spiritual director of Ramakrishna Vedanta Ashrama, São Paulo, a center affiliated to the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission of India.

Swami Nirmalatmananda came to Brasil on 27 March 1999 to inaugurate and assume charge of the first official centre of the Ramakrishna Order, and also to spread the ideas and ideals of Ramakrishna Vivekananda in Brasil. He has steadily maintained contact with the Vedanta groups in cities like Curitiba, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte where, apart from giving talks and lectures, he also gives interviews and personal spiritual counsel.  Inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, and also by the ideals of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda, Swami Nirmalatmananda entered the Ramakrishna Order in its Center in New Delhi, India, in 1975, immediately after completing his studies in Chennai University, where he graduated in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Five years later, he was sent to Belur Math for training and in 1985, received the vows of Sannyasa from his guru, Swami Vireswaranandaji Maharaj, the 10th President of the Ramakrishna Order, who was Sri Sarada Devi's direct disciple.

Before coming to Brasil, he served in the headquarters, the administrative part of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and gained ample experience in administration of the huge monastic organization. along with studies in Sanskrit literature, Ramakrishna Vivekananda literature, contemplation, meditation, and counselling. In the São Paulo Center, the Swami regularly does arati and meditation, and receives devotees to converse on spiritual topics.

Swami Arunananda

Arunananda received the vows of brahmacharya in 1987 in Argentina, and received the vows of sannyasa in 1994 during the anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna in Belur Math from Revered Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj, then president of the Ramakrishna Order. The major part of his monastic life was spent in Argentina, where he served as assistant minister for about 25 long years. Apart from his practice of monastic life, he participated in many interreligious conferences, representing Hinduism.
